MSCU VISIT TO THE DISABLED

 

MEDICAL SCHOOL CHRISTIAN UNION

A REPORT OF FIRST YEAR MEDICAL SCHOOL CHRISTIAN UNION VISIT TO COMPASSIONATE HANDS FOR THE DISABLED FOUNDATION IN RUAI ON THE 12TH MARCH 2016.

Introduction.

Compassionate hands for the disabled foundation is a non- governmental shelter for abandoned children in need of special care.The foundation began in 2008 in Korogocho slum but soon located to Ruai. The home has 86 children some who are mentally challenged while others are physically challenged with ages from 4-20years of age.The founder , Madam Anne Njeri receives donations from wellwishers and some churches to assist in running the home.

 

Donation.

The First year  Medical students ,under the leadership of their committee was able to fundraise funds from the various classfellowships and wellwishers getting a total of ksh63,820. Items donated were as follows;

Activities.

A total of 50 students participated in the visit. The following were the activities performed;

  • Feeding the children
  • Cleaning the classrooms,clinic, compound
  • Washing clothes
  • Cooking the evening meal6
  • Interacting and playing with the children

 

 

 

 

 

Recommendation

The visit was very successful and the fellowship greatly appreciated the support from the administration in providing the school bus .
